Erin's Chair
Hi everyone,
Erin is the daughter of some friends of ours who suffered from a Hip Dysplasia condition at a young age. She had to undergo reduction surgery to correct the way her legs were developing. She was placed in a hip spica cast for over 6 weeks which meant she was unable to sit up unaided. Knowing that my partner is a joiner, we were tasked with fixing this problem as Erin needed a spica chair to be able to sit unaided so she could independently continue with her favourite activities like drawing and playing.
Currently the spica chairs which are out there on the market are either far too expensive or far too complicated to make. They are cumbersome and they aren’t portable. Therefore, we have designed a less complicated and cost effective spica chair, which is collapsible and fits into the boot of a car.
Not everybody has the skills to recreate the DIY version of Erin’s Chair which we offer and send out free of charge so we have come up with a cost effective, lighter weight and much more aesthetically appealing version. The manufactured version will come with a harness and as with the ethos of the brand it is be priced as low as we can make it, in order to touch the lives of as many children who are in need.
The sales of the manufactured Erin’s Chair will in turn keep the website running and allow us to continue dedicating time where needed in replying to questions from the home builders that don’t have carpentry experience and allow us to keep Erin's Chair as cost effective as possible for parents/carers who are already having to deal with stressful times of hospital visits and emotional worries about the future of their child's physical development.
The target that we need to raise in order to get Erin's Chair properly up and running is £2000. This will cover the cost of the website and help to keep a stock of chairs.
Thank you in advance for your donations, you are all wonderful supporters and fingers crossed we can keep getting these chairs out for those children in need.
