Erin's Family Faces Heart Surgery Expenses for Father
Donation protected
Update 3/5: Surgery was successful and dad has been recovering. He was transferred out of ICU last night to a cardiac intermediate care unit. Today he walked a lap around the unit-the furthest he has been able to so far and that really exhausted him. He did start to experience some ICU delirium so we are working on helping him with that, meaning keeping him more awake during the day, letting him sleep as well as he can during the night. Last night was a bit rough though and he didn't get much rest so he is very tired right now especially after walking. Thank you everyone for your continued support, love, and prayers.
Update 2/28: Today is surgery day! Dad is in the OR right now and should hopefully be done in the next hour or so. He will go directly to ICU for recovery (where he will stay for about 2 days) before he goes to an intermediate care floor. Then if everything goes very well he will be home by end of next week.
Update: 2/4
We met with cardiothoracic surgery last week and have a date for my dad's surgery. He will need triple bypass surgery and it is scheduled for 2/28. His expected hospital stay with everything going smoothly will be 5-7 days with the first couple days recovering in ICU. Thank you everyone who has reached out, supported and prayed over my Dad and our family.
Update: 1/8
Dad had his cardiac cath yesterday and it did not go as we had hoped. The doctor discovered that the right side arteries are non-functioning and have been for a long time. Due to this, the left side of his heart has been compensating. His left side arteries are also 80-90% occluded. Due to this he will require bypass surgery.
We are still shocked but know that God is holding my Dad and our family so close. We have an appointment with his cardiologist tomorrow 1/9 and will proceed with scheduling surgery as soon as possible.
Hello to our friends, loved ones, and anyone who hears our story. My name is Erin Figueroa and I am trying to raise funds for my father's medical expenses. Before Thanksgiving, my dad had cardiac testing done that showed a significant blockage in one of his main coronary arteries. This will require a cardiac catheterization to clear the blockage and more than likely place stents. We will not know the true extent until the doctors begin the procedure.
He has become so symptomatic that many days he has no energy to get out of bed because his heart is just not getting enough oxygen. Even when he is able to get out of bed, walking short distances becomes so exhausting that he must now use mobility assistance.
His initial diagnostic testing with "insurance coverage" was supposed to be $500 but ended up costing $2300. This is before anything invasive has even begun. We are anticipating medical bills for his actual procedure to be tens of thousands of dollars, but it is something that cannot be ignored or put off.
He is currently scheduled for January 7th for his cardiac catheterization and the financial stress has been heavy on top of everything our family is dealing with. I truly appreciate any amount you could donate to help alleviate some of this burden on my family.
