Mission
Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter is an organization run by women, provides support and shelter for women and children escaping violence.
Ernestine's Women's Shelter
- Provides safe shelter and a home, along with 24-hour crisis assistance, support programs, and counselling for women and children fleeing violence and abuse.
- Offers lifelines to women and children within the community through our Outreach Program, which includes access to our on-site donation and food bank.
- Has supported over 15,000 women and children since opening its doors in 1983.
- Operates from a feminist, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive (ARAO) framework, honouring diversity and the unique needs of the individual.
- Assists women and children in rebuilding their lives by providing crisis intervention and a range of holistic support services, while acknowledging the multitude of issues facing survivors of abuse.
By supporting the shelter, donors have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the women and their children and help provide our clients with all the basic necessities they need.

Last year we raised close to $1,300 as a team, making us the smallest team with the biggest donation achievement! With our team growing this year, we decided to set our target donation goal at $2,000 - Challenge accepted?

GoFundMe FAQs
What will my donations via GoFundMe be used for?
- All donations will go towards the Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter in the form of: gift cards and non-perishable items such as diapers, hygiene items, etc. Full list of items requested is found in the attached PDF
There’s an option to Tip GoFundMe services – what is that?
- GoFundMe’s platform automatically provides an option of tipping , set by default at 15%. This is not mandatory or associated with this charity event. The tip is entirely for GoFundMe, and is optional, you can choose $0.
Does all of my donation amount go towards Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter?
- Yes – with the exception of a very small amount. 3.2% of every donation goes towards GoFundMe’s bank fees.
When is the last day to donate?
- The last day to donate is December 6th 2022
When will you deliver the gifts to the Ernestine’s women’s shelter?
- We will deliver the gifts on December 13th 2022 at 5pm!
What is our amount target for GoFundMe?
- We are targeting $2000
What happens if that amount is not met?
- There is no penalty for not achieving the goal – we will donate what we are able to raise!
