Ernie Bussidor funeral expenses and family support

Donation protected
With the permission of his family, we are asking for donations to help support the family of Ernie Bussidor as they prepare for his final journey home.

Ernie Bussidor served the Sayisi Dene Nation and the MKO Executive Council for many terms in office. Chief Bussidor was an advocate for the Dene Gathering, the rights of the Dene Nations North of 60 and the recognition by Canada and Manitoba on the unjust Relocation of the Sayisi Dene to Churchill.

In recent years he was instrumental in the formation of the Seal River Watershed Initiative and active in helping to bring a Canadian Rangers Patrol Group to Tadoule Lake.

In 2023, Ernie was nominated by MKO and recognized by Manitoba and Canada with his tremendous dedication with a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.

He was an active Ranger and community leader in hand games and drum songs to ensure the Dene tradition remains vibrant in his community.

Ernie loved to head on the lake every day and fish a net, bringing friends and youth along with him.

But above all he loved his community and he loved his grandchildren.

Follow your dreams, to the fields unknown, to where wild flowers sink into the sun. I will meet you there, and we shall dance until the sun rises once again. - Red Deer
