Ernie Green Memorial Scholarship

In the sports world, certain individuals are often referred to as a "generational athlete". Their talents and abilities allow them to consistently do things that make us simply say WOW. Names like Pele, Jordan, and Brady come to mind. On February 16, 2020, the Fort Walton Beach High School Viking family as well as the Fort Walton Beach community lost a "generational man", Ernie Green. Ernie was the consummate professional as a coach, teacher and administrator. In his over 30 years of service to FWBHS he positively impacted 2-3 generations of students and his coworkers. He made everyone he knew or met feel special. His interest in people was always genuine and true. Ernie's love for his school and community was only surpassed by his love for his family. Ernie Green was a true role model of what it means to be a husband, father and leader. His ability to challenge, encourage and empower students to be successful was the essence of his strength and character. As one of his first players/students over 40 years ago, I benefited from those challenges and encouragement. I like many others are fortunate to have had Ernie Green write upon the pages of our lives. In an effort to keep that legacy and impact alive, I'm establishing the Ernie Green Memorial Scholarship Fund. Your contributions will go towards an endowment at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida. The financial gifts will be instrumental in helping students fulfill their educational goals and subsequently pursue a life of excellence that inspires them to impact their community the way Ernie Green did. Please keep the Green family in your thoughts and prayers; thank you in advance for your support.
