ERO Double Recording Project: Ballet & Symphony 3

Thank you for considering support of the enormous cost of hiring a large symphony orchestra, the very fine European Recording Orchestra (ERO) at the fabulous Radio Bulgaria Studio 1, in Sofia. (Hit "Read More" after scrolling down below to see all of this and see a video.) Why the ERO? Because they draw the best players from thirteen top European orchestras who are amazing sight-readers, in a studio made for recording symphonic music with well over 50 great German microphones and state-of-the-art engineering. I recorded my Symphony No. 2: Tales from the Realm of Faerie with them (see video below) and found them terrific to work with and more affordable than U.S. Orchestras. This time, two separate albums are on the docket, music (75 minutes) from my ballet Raffaella: a Fairytale Ballet and my new Symphony No. 3: "English" (45 minutes) on Parma/Navona Recordings, distributed by Naxos. Why fund such a project? Because my mission, like yours, is to restore the great symphonic tradition of music that has full, classical artistic craft in the melodic style of the kind of beloved symphonic music that contributes beauty to the world. The music I hear and write has a track record of demonstrating that narrative beauty (rather than yet more avant-garde modernism or postmodernism) is still badly needed and relevant. Indeed, it is what audiences actually crave and wish new classical music would once again sound like in the concert hall. You can be a part of that movement. Thanks very much! Update, July 2024: I'm happy to report that we have the funds to record the symphony, and plan to do so September 7 & 8, 2024. What is still needed is $75,000 to record the ballet music. We had a wonderful premiere of the ballet at the end of June and are excited to make a large orchestra recording of the complete ballet music available!
