Hi Everyone. For those of you who do not know me or my story please take a moment to give you a brief history. My name is Braulio Fonseca. I have fought Cancer twice in my life, the most recent battle being 5 years ago. Since my recovery I have been dedicated to raising awareness and money to help fight this horrible disease that has impacted so many of us and the ones we love.
I gravitated toward the water as a way for me to pay tribute and two years ago I attempted to swim from the infamous prison Alcatraz back to the San Francisco mainland without a wetsuit. I chose not to wear a wetsuit to pay my respects to those who have fought, and are fighting now and in my eyes are suffering a much worse fate than being in frigid waters.
I have been collecting names from around the world and I write them on my body as I swim each year. Due to Covid -19 the 2020 swim was cancelled but this year it is back on!
On June 5th 2021, I will once again dive into the San Francisco Bay with as many names of Cancer Warriors as I can place on my body to pay tribute once again and I am asking for your support. I am raising money to help off set the costs that are required to compete in this event and all funds aside from that will be going directly to the American Cancer Society for research. I am dedicating this years swim to Natasha Woodring Fisher who is in her second battle of Breast Cancer. Please consider supporting this cause to help find a cure to every form of Cancer that is killing so many of our friends and family.
