ESCOBAR’S IVDD SURGERY & RECOVERY
Donation protected
Hi everyone, In 2019 I was gifted a beautiful black / brindle Frenchie who I fell in love with. We are starting this fundraiser for him because He recently was diagnosed with IVDD, which is Intervertebral Disc Disease. This is when, In between each pair of vertebrae is an intervertebral disc that is shaped like a jelly donut. The disc has an inner jelly part and an outer donut part. Intervertebral discs act as spacers and cushions between the bones of the neck and back. In certain breeds, including the French bulldog, the jelly inside part of the disc can come out of the donut at high speed. When this happens, it hits the spinal cord, causing bruising and swelling. Additionally, it compresses the spinal cord. His back legs do not function because of this and now he can barely walk without dragging his rear limbs.
As most frenchies, Escobar is normally energetic, animated, and full of drama lol. He loves the park, long walks, and to play with his Merle Frenchie companion, Griselda. This has always been the life I wanted to provide for him. Now that he is immobilized, it takes away his character and his lust for life. It pains my husband and I to see him in this state. This is life altering and came unexpectedly. Escobar has been there for me through some very trying times. I had a miscarriage in 2019 . His unconditional love, beautiful and charismatic soul brought me out of a tough time. Receiving Esco at this time helped me grieve the loss of a child . He took the place as my fur baby .
I previously worked at a facility that provides a day program for adults with disabilities. Escobar came with me to work everyday. He was so gentle and loving with all the clients that attended. He effortlessly brought so much joy and emotional support to everyone. He has natural gift that is undeniable.
He still has a lot of life to live and love to give.
Escobar is a family member that we love and cherish dearly . We are determined to get him walking again and preserve his quality of life.
Since the onset of Escobar’s condition came unexpectedly, we are not financially prepared to pay for his back surgery . Time is not on our side with this condition. He can deteriorate rather quickly. If we can get him in for surgery sooner then later this will increase his chances of a full recovery greatly.
Currently , Escobar is undergoing acupuncture treatments along with cycles of anti inflammatory and pain medications. Soon he will have an MRI and surgery on his back. As you all know ongoing medical treatments and surgery can be very costly.
Any donation and or sharing this page with others is extremely appreciated. We are turning to the community for help and support.
Thank you for visiting our fundraiser page. Much love and light to you all, from the Jack Family!!
