Environment Education Project
Donation protected
Hi, we are a group of volunteers based in South Korea working together to reduce the use of disposable products. Nowadays, disposable products are truly a global issue which is threatening millions of lives on Earth by causing serious pollution. News medias all around the world are constantly warning us of the grim future where our children are playing by the piles of plastic bottles on a beach.
Recently in Korea too, it has been a huge problem that numerous turtles which seemed to have been choked to death by a plastic bag were washed ashore. This incident alarmed many Koreans of the gravity of environment pollution inflicted by disposable products.
In this sense, I made a team with my friends who share the same concern and developed the idea to help reduce the use of disposable products. We believed that teaching young kids to recognize the problems should be preceded at an early stage because childhood education has the long-lasting effects. So, we devised the plan to teach young students in the world to raise awareness on the danger of using disposable products and to distribute multi-use products to replace them. In addition to that, in order to prove validity of our project proposal, we applied for the idea contest on environment protection which was held by the Korean government and, luckily, our project proposal won the prize.
However, since it is just the idea contest, they do not actually give us the fund to realize the project. That’s why we are here to ask for your help. We need to raise $ 10,000 to cover monitoring & evaluation expenses and extra project expenses(Campaign, Education materials etc.) to our first destination which is Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic is one of the most famous tourist attractions but as the number of tourists increase, lots of tourist sites are suffering from the wastes and trash. Also, one of our team members is currently residing in Dominican Republic as a project volunteer, which will be a huge plus point in carrying out our project.
We have already reached an agreement with the local school, which is Escuela Eliseo Demorizi located in Samana province of Dominican Republic and if we raise enough money, we will teach students the importance of using multi-use products and distribute tumbler or Eco Bag to encourage students use it every day instead of disposable products.
We hope our project to be a successful precedent so that we can extend our activity to other areas of the world. For that, we desperately need your help. Any and all forms of donations will be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, however, sharing this link with those who may be able to would be a huge help for us. Thank you for your support!!
Below is the short video clip of a teacher who is currently working at the Escuela Eliseo Demorizi and, just like us, she is wishing for the successful project.
Sincerely,
Sehoon Lee, Sunghwan Park, Jongmin Jin, Yesol Kim and Hansaem Jung
