Esse’s Fight for Life

Donation protected
Essence went in on May 28 for the delivery of her beautiful baby Eli.  After 16 hours of hard labor , fevers and 3 epidurals they made the decision to do an emergency c-section.  Eli was born May 29 in the morning hours.

Baby Eli was taken directly into the NICU because he was running a fever, had some water on his lungs and generally wasn’t feeling good from the hard labor.   Essence was able to visit with him and hold him every chance she could but she herself immediately felt horrible and it was so hard for her to make it there as often as she wanted to.   After 5 days of excruciating pain and discomfort, fevers, blood draws, blood transfusions, and countless pleas for help the medical staff came in and rushed her to ICU on Tuesday June 4 in the early hours and took her in for emergency surgery.   We later found out she was with in an hour of death.

She has been diagnosed with Necrotizing  Fasciitis.  A serious bacterial infection that destroys tissue under the skin.  A flesh eating disease that occurs when bacteria enters the body through a break in the skin.  Her first surgery was to remove all infected area of muscle and tissue. They left her abdomen open so they can continually recheck through more operations until the infection is gone.  Luckily to this point it has not affected any organs although the illness is taking a toll on her kidneys.

Wednesday June 5 she went in for a second surgery.  There were no signs of infected areas and the doctors are much more hopeful of her prognosis than they were yesterday.  She is still under sedation and in very critical condition in the ICU.  We are grateful for the good news of today and continue to pray for her recovery. She has a long road ahead of her.

We are looking for any donations to help with the mounting medical and financial issues she will face during her long road ahead.  Essence is a single mom and had limited maternity leave or finances saved. When she comes out of sedation we want her to focus on healing and not add any more stress for her.

Thank you you for all the prayers, love, and healing energy sent her way.  Baby Eli needs his mommy and we need our Esse.
