Esperanza's Medical Fund

This campaign has been created for Esperanza Bass and her couragous battle with leukemia. My name is Kelly Garrison and with the help of Billie Jo McRoberts, on behalf of the family, we have set up this fund to help them with the financial side of this devastating news. Shannon (Essie's mom) works for us in our real estate company, Trademark Realty Group. Shannon and her husband, Nelson, have blessed us in many ways and it is our goal to pay it forward and help them in their time of need. My husband Bruce and I have known this family for many years.
A couple of weeks ago Esperanza Bass was complaining that her knee was hurting. Essie is a very active 11 year old and her love for softball is everything to her. Boo-boos are nothing new but, when things weren't improving, they decided to go in and have the knee looked at. Shannon and Essie were sent home without answers and told to follow up with the pediatrician.
Shannon (Essie's mom) noticed some brusing and was concerned about a torn ligament, and felt a voice from God telling her to take Essie up to Jacksonville, to the children's hospital. Shannon took Essie up to Jacksonville to be seen and thankfully, they decided to do some bloodwork to further check her out. Her white blood cell count came back critically high at 315,000. Normal range is 4,000-15,000.
With all the questions the medical staff was asking everything began to fall into place for the family as to why Essie is always getting sick, losing weight, having headaches, etc.
Treatments began today after a bone marrow biopsy to to pinpoint the diagnosis. CML was confirmed. CML is a rare form of leukemia (Chronic myeloid leukemia). This particular type of leukemia effects only about 1 out of 100,000 people. CML is even more rare in children.
She has been started on chemotherapy immediately and we know there is a very long road ahead.
Treatments, travel expenses, and time away from work are major worries for the family. This campaign has been set up to help alleviate the financial stress for the family.
Monies raised will be used for Essie's medical treatment as well as family bills.
A very humble family, Shannon (Essie's mom) and Nelson (Essie's dad) are two incredibly hard working people. Please help support this family with your prayers as well. Thank you for your support.
