HELP ESTABLISH EVHS GIRLS RUGBY CLUB

Hello friends -

I was approached recently for ideas about how to help a few kids from Eagle Valley High School raise money for a proposed girls rugby club. They need uniforms (the ones they're using are over 20 years old and were donated by Summit High School) and some basic equipment. I pointed them towards a few resources then asked, "You don't need that much money. Why not start a GoFundMe?"

The response took me by surprise.

The school won't let them.

Girls' and women's athletics are chronically underfunded. We also live in a valley that's undergoing a historical mental health crisis, one that's manifested among our kids in the saddest possible way. The adults in the room (us) might be better served by creating solutions instead of constructing obstacles.

This club is a way to build community among a group of young humans who've never needed it more. Better still, it's open to ALL girls in the valley, not just those enrolled at EVHS.

I don't have a kid that goes to EVHS. While the kids may be prohibited from using GoFundMe, I'm just a private citizen. I can.

So I did.

Once we've hit our target, I'll donate all of the proceeds. Thanks in advance for throwing a couple of bucks this way, which I will then donate their way. 100% of your donations will go to the girls. I'll also cover all of the transaction fees taken out of your donation by GoFundMe, so your donation REALLY is transferred at 100%.

Teams, activities and clubs are about social connection. The power of togetherness is transformative. With your help, we can gift this experience to these amazing kids and remove at least one obstacle to participation. Thanks again for your support.
