Esther Booth FIGHTS CANCER, again!
Esther is strong, there's no question about it.
It's been a word used to describe her for as long as we've know her.
She won the battle with breast cancer in 2003, and again in 2008. But a new battle has begun.
Esther has recently been diagnosed once again with breast cancer - but one that has metastasized to her brain, lung and hip.
The treatments have already begun. Starting with radiation to her brain, she now has ongoing weekly chemotherapy in NYC.
Due to her weekly appointments to the Cancer Center, including MRIs, CAT Scans, blood tests, and numerous examinations with her team of specialists, she is effectively prevented from working. The side effects from treatment, however, add both deep exhaustion and a host of physical ills that make employment all but impossible right now.
This alone has put an immediate strain on her family, but the mounting expenses - everything from medications to transportation to co-payments on expensive medical procedures - has made it increasingly difficult for them financially.
Esther is a wife, a mother, a sister and a dear friend. Her daughter, Vanja, is 9 years old and is the love of her life. Lyle, her husband, is her tower of strength and supports her in every possible way.
Together as a community we can now try and help this wonderful woman, an active community member herself, in fighting her battle.
We have set a goal of $50,000 dollars and it will be necessary to achieve this goal, or more, as Esther will be maintaining this treatment for the rest of her life.
Love truly,
Deirdre, Kimberly and Branis
