It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet, Estrella "Star" Dorado Marin. Star was a beacon of light to all she encountered and made a name for herself within the wrestling community. Those who were lucky enough to know her would tell you that her soft voice, beautiful smile, small stature, and contagious laugh would captivate you. At first glance, you would not believe she was a force to be reckoned with on the wrestling mat. Originally from Denver, Colorado, one of three sisters, Star was quiet, family-oriented, kind, and the most selfless person you would ever meet. Growing up, she tried many sports such as track and field. Her late mother Cindy encouraged her to try a combat sport. That is where she fell in love with wrestling after trying several different mixed martial arts. Star and her sister, Adriana Dorado Marin became the duo on the mat that everyone wanted to watch. They set their goals high and successfully made World Teams in two different weight classes with many other accomplishments throughout their journey. With the hopes of providing a better future for herself and her family, she joined the United States Army in August 2020. The Army was an opportunity to financially assist her family and continue her passion to compete with the World Class Athlete Program (WCAP). With her dreams set on the Olympics, she did not allow any obstacle or setback to get in her way. There is no doubt that she would have made it to the Olympics. Star was so much more than just an incredible wrestler; she had an intense love for art (painting and drawing) which allowed her an escape from the real world, learning new languages and hoping to travel and explore the world. Following a recent surgery, Star started experiencing complications and eventually succumbed to those complications on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Star leaves behind her sisters, Adriana and Dominique, Grandmother, a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wrestling community that will forever be impacted by the blessing of knowing such a magnificent and truly special individual. Star will be most remembered for her beautiful smile, kind and gentle spirit, selflessness, the remanence of her amazing artwork, and the many memories she created on and off the mat with those closest to her. This GoFundMe will contribute to the cost of funeral expenses as we try to provide relief to her family as they grieve their beloved Star during this tragic and completely unexpected time.
