Ethan Kerr Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
My name is Ethan Kerr and I am a Scout in troop 490 in Madison, CT. I live in East Haddam, CT and have been involved in scouting for twelve years. I am raising funds to complete my Eagle Scout project which will be based in East Haddam, CT. I am working with my town Conservation Commission and The East Haddam Land Trust to install double Adirondack chairs at overlooks and places of interest on preserved land. The chairs will be placed on underused trails and locations throughout town. To include everyone, the chairs will be placed at hiking locations of varied difficulty levels. This will include scenic lookouts and birdwatching locations along the Connecticut River. The purpose of using double Adirondack chairs is to encourage hiking with a partner for companionship and safety. My goal is to complete six different locations but if funding allows, I will add more. All funds received will go directly towards the purchase of materials for this project including platforms where needed and any materials needed to secure the chairs to the ground. I hope to encourage the use of our trails, not only for the opportunity to connect with nature and others, but to gain the physical and mental health benefits that it offers. Once the chairs are installed, I plan to promote them with a challenge that will require people to visit the locations and record it with a picture. I am grateful for any support for this project and hope that it will encourage the use of preserved land.
