Ethan needs an all-terrain wheelchair!

I am Ethan’s grandmother. Ethan was recently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Ethan and his mom, Nina, and his 2 brothers, and sister, and I, live on our old family farm. It has hills and a stream. It is 3/4 mile from my house to Ethan’s house. Everyone can walk across the pasture and across the creek except Ethan! Ethan cannot walk. He is getting too heavy to carry. Standard wheelchairs and wagons will not get Ethan where he wants to go. He wants to go in the forest and in the fields and across the creek with his family. This winter we plan to build hideouts and play-places in the trees. Ethan cannot get there!

GRIT all-terrain wheelchairs are designed at MIT. These chairs are not covered by any insurance. They can be re-fitted as Ethan grows. Accessories are available to customize a chair for Ethan. Ethan lives at the top of a hill with rock and gravel. Just getting from the car to the house would be easier with a GRIT chair. Ethan could go outside when it is wet or muddy. He could go to play in the sand. It would change his life!

The basic chair is $5,500. I am asking for extra money for tax, accessories, a helmet, and a wheelchair-friendly bridge so that Ethan can cross the creek with his brothers and sister. Right now Ethan’s mom and I have to carry him.
