Ethan Statham Memorial Band Scholarship

In loving memory of Ethan Statham.

Ethan was a remarkable young man, and we have had the privilege of witnessing his passion and dedication to life, and to music. Ethan was a valued member of many ensembles during his time at Caesar Rodney High School: Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Pit Bulls, and the Kent County Honor Band playing French Horn and Mellophone.

Although he was involved in numerous other organizations during high school, he prioritized his time involved in music and the many friendships that came with it.

Ethan volunteered to demonstrate the French Horn to young children in hopes that they will decide to participate in music in their lives, enrolled in an Independent Study Music Course to strengthen his French Horn skills, and even had the fun opportunity to play the Conch Shell in the piece Riptides the Blue Band Ensemble performed in the Spring of 2023. He was always excited about new opportunities in music.

We (his music teachers) were thrilled to hear that he decided to enroll in the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band to play mellophone while studying Engineering. In speaking with him just a few short weeks ago, we heard that he was having the time of his life. He was excited to mention the new friendships he made in the mellophone section and was thrilled that students from Caesar Rodney were also marching with him.

Ethan was an outstanding student, and his journey through our band program was truly exceptional. He left a lasting mark on our band, and his absence is keenly felt by us all. His kindness, humility, and unwavering commitment to music and his friends were a testament to the outstanding young man he was.

In Ethan's memory, the Statham Family has graciously decided to create a scholarship fund for Caesar Rodney High School seniors who plan to join a college marching band but are not choosing to study Music Education.
