Suzi needs our help.

No one likes to talk about their medical situation. In the case of Suzi Spangenberg, the isolation of these past two years has made it easy to hide the extent to which her deteriorating medical situation has left her disabled. But she's been very ill and unable to work for over two years now, and her condition is life threatening if it can't be successfully treated.
Suzi's condition has proved very hard to treat. She has an appointment at the Mayo Clinic, and she believes that a therapy offered there is her best hope. But the biological agents they would treat her with are very expensive and not covered by insurance. And her prolonged illness has burned through all her financial resources, leaving her with almost nothing.
Suzi has always been there for other people; as a hospital chaplain, a hospice grief couselor, an activist and community organizer, and just a good friend and neighbor. I remember when she was severely injured while volunteering as a legal observer at Occupy Oakland; when she won a big settelment years later, she gave away nearly every penny to small human rights non-profits. She's literally one of the most giving and generous people I have ever met, which is why it's so hard for her to ask for the help she needs now. But she really can't get through this without you.
Funds raised will go directly to Suzi, and will be used in two ways: to help pay for the cost of her upcoming medical care, and to help her relocate to somewhere with a more affordable cost of living, where she can hopefully survive on her disability payments.
