Eugene Gilliard Sweetgrass Basket Stand

Hi my name is Dan Delanty, a Mt Pleasant/Belle Hall resident. I saw a new story yesterday on WCBD News2 about this kind, sweetgrass basket maker in Mount Pleasant, whose sweetgrass basket stand was ruined by a hit and run driver. He could not afford to rebuild it himself, so I’m organizing this fund to help raise money to cover the cost to rebuild his stand and even to do some repair work on the family house. They are in desperate need of a new roof and other repairs and we may not be able to get to all of it, but we will do what we can. If you do a Google search on Eugene Gilliard, you will see his picture on the Smithsonian Institution website. He is literally a national treasure right here in the Lowcountry. Any additional funds will go directly to Mr. Eugene Gilliard of Mount Pleasant.
