Eunice in Paris: A Nina Story at ABTF

Donation protected
Parris Sarter (Eclipsed, Angels in America*, An Octoroon) is the legendary Nina Simone, Eunice in Paris, World Premiere at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival September 3, 2022 @ 4:00pm at the Southwest Arts Center. Written by Amina S. McIntyre, Eunice in Paris chronicles her last performance at a bar in Paris, France. Nina recalls her life, what lies ahead, and contemplates what’s best for her career and her community.

Set in the 1980s in the Parisian nightclub, Theatre Olympia, Nina is confronted with her choices and relives experiences with her parents, James Baldwin, Lorraine Hansberry and others in a piece that crescendos with an existential look into her mental health, her choices, and, of course, the motivations behind her music and songwriting.

The production team includes Parris Sarter, actor and producer, Amina McIntyre, playwright/producer, and Addae Moon, dramaturg and Thandiwe Deshazor, director and producer.

Funds will help confirm other production positions, including Stage Manager, Movement Coordinator, Music Director, and Set Designer. In addition, this show will launch opportunities for Parris to present this show at theatres, schools, museums, conferences, and more!

The first 25 donors of $50 or more will receive 2 tickets to the show.
