European Training and Racing Experience

Hi, my name is Anna, and I've been skiing for as long as I can remember. It has always been my dream to race internationally, make a National team, or potentially compete against the best skiers worldwide. Then, eventually, strive for a full athletic scholarship to university.

There is no success in the world of skiing without year-round high-quality training, this doesn’t necessarily mean no breaks, but it certainly isn’t easy. So far, with the huge support of my parents, I train and race year-round ranging from track to mountain biking, roller skiing and cross-country running. I would say that skiing is a very challenging sport; both physically and mentally, it requires a lot of dedication and sacrifice which I am no stranger to.

So far I've competed and trained in Canada, USA, Australia, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, and Sweden. I'm very proud of my latest results in reaching a few podiums in the Canadian National and Eastern Championships, Provincial High School (OFSAA) Championships, and even overseas in the Tatra Cup in Slovakia.

In the hopes of improving myself, getting as many new experiences under my belt as possible and becoming a successful athlete I'm ready to move forward and arrange for a semi-permanent stay in Europe. All to enhance my racing career. Despite working hard to finance this expedition myself, even taking a gap year to be able to make my dream come true, I’m looking for outside resources.

If you’re wondering about the cost of the sport please consider that a donation of $65 helps cover one tank of gas travelling to a competition, $100 covers a weekend’s race registration, and $350 covers accommodation during a racing weekend.
