Helping Sophie

Hi my name is Sophia. I’m 30 years old, I’m a daughter, sister, friend, cousin but most importantly, a mom to three beautiful girls. I am the person anyone can count on when they need anything, I give generously to those  around me and that will never change.

In October of 2017 I was diagnosed with colon cancer, followed by a surgery in November of 2017 and underwent chemotherapy from January 2018 through August of 2018. Finally, in August of 2018 I celebrated clear scans and a cancer free body.

Throughout the past 2 years, I have been suffering from extreme back pain that has resulted in numerous ER visits, appointments with specialists and ultimately, in August of 2021 I was diagnosed with Liver cancer as well as kidney failure.

In a week, my 2nd battle will begin with chemotherapy. Not only am I unemployed at this time, I can’t even return to a job due to my cancer. Unlike my colon cancer treatments, this round of chemotherapy will be more aggressive and I will lose my hair. The doctors have informed me of a treatment that can minimize hair loss during my treatments. The Dignicap Scalp Cooling System treatments are not covered by my insurance and will run me $300 per session with a recommendation of 12 sessions. On top of that, I still have to maintain my household as well as provide for my children.

No amount is too small, anything will help me stay afloat and keep some of my confidence during this next treatment phase. I welcome all prayers, all forms of encouragement and I appreciate you taking the time to read this and share my story. Thank you,
