Hi everyone, this is Coti. I am the oldest son of the Brown Family and we could really use your help right now. Today (9/22/20) my sister Amber was rushed to the emergency room and has been diagnosed with an intercerebral hemorrhage. My sister is one of the most amazing people I truly know. She is completely selfless and has built her life around helping people. She recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor's in Anthropology. She was signed up to join the Peace Corps and was supposed to be in Cameroon this Summer before COVID-19 hit. She has also worked as an EMT and at VCU Medical Hospital, completely putting others before herself. Amber just got an MRI tonight and we are waiting until tomorrow morning to see the test results and figure out the next steps.
While my Mom, Brother, and I were at the hospital visiting her, my house was robbed. The timing is incredibly sad and honestly, we are at a loss of words. The thieves stole all of our jewelry and cash out of the house. My mom kept her jewelry and cash in 2 safes that were stolen out of the house. My Mom has worked extremely hard to give my siblings and me a good life. She started working as a server in her early 20's. Throughout the years with hard work and dedication, she was able to build two successful restaurants in Yorktown, Va. She is turning 61 this year and is getting to the point where she can't handle the physically demanding work a restaurant requires. We have all worked there together as a family for years. I feel terrible that something my Mom has been working towards and saving for her entire life was stolen from here in 30 minutes. I just want to help her any way I can.
For the people out there that know my family might know that this is something that we normally wouldn't do. Honestly, I really don't know what else to do. We are in a desperate situation between our restaurant, my Mom's retirement, and my Sister's medical bills. After the robbery, I'm not sure that my Mom will be in a position to afford the medical bills that will accrue and I do not want to place all the burden on her shoulders to pay them off. Any donations will go directly to my Mom to help pay for my Sister's bills and my Mom's retirement.
We need your prayers and help. Please pray for my family.
