Support Dalia’s Family in Gaza: A Call for Urgent Aid

Donation protected

Hello everyone!
I am Dalia Shurrab, the eldest of seven in a family deeply scarred by the ongoing war in Gaza. We live in Khan Younis, where every day is a struggle against immense odds. The picture above is all that's left of our home after an airstrike.

My father recently had a stroke, which severely limits his mobility and function. My mother, Salwa, once a passionate educator, now suffers from heart complications due to the relentless stress of our situation. Her dedication to teaching shaped many futures, including ours.

My sister Ruqaya is a dentist who opened her own successful clinic, that persevered through the COVID-19 pandemic, despite devastating financial losses. With her clinic now lost to the war, Ruqaya struggles with severe asthma, further aggravated by the ongoing conflict.

My brother Mohammed has always been a supportive pillar, managing to secure employment even in the hardest times of crisis amidst the ongoing blockade on Gaza. Last year he started his own barbershop with high hopes of finally securing a stable income. The barbershop was destroyed soon into the war, and Mohammed now traverses 18 kilometers each day, just to fetch basic necessities for our family.

Alaa, my younger brother, is a talented computer engineer. He managed to secure a position at an American software company even before completing his engineering degree. Before he was able to relocate, the war struck and robbed him of his dream.

The children—Abdul Rahman, Omar, and young Salwa—face a reality marred by violence and fear, far from the childhood they deserve. Abdul Rahman recently asked me with a sense of urgency, to do all in my power to secure their well-being.

Our family's story is one of persistent hardship and resilience in the face of adversity. We reach out to you not just for help, but for a lifeline to pull us from the depths of despair.

The funds we're trying to collect will be used primarily to arrange safe passage to extract our family from the war-torn Gaza strip, get us across the Egyptian border and put some roof over our heads. The rest of it will be used to secure basic food, medicine for our parents, and some school materials for the children.

Due to restrictions and other complications in money transfer, this campaign is managed by my friend Jacob who is located in the UK, and a few other friends who help. My family is intended to be the only recipient of any funds collected here.

Thank you for whatever you can spare to help us out.
