Evacuating Disabled Mohammed from Gaza: Restoring hope
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
My name is Jameel Deeb, and I am a postgraduate student in Egypt. As the war broke out, I was unable to continue on with my studies as my mind was occupied with worry for my family’s
safety; fearing losing them at any second.
While striving to achieve my academic goals, my mind and soul remain with my family in Gaza.
There, in that besieged land, lives my younger brother Mohammed, who has cerebral Palsy
since birth, rendering him with the cognitive and motor abilities of a 5-year-old child. The
ongoing genocide has worsened his condition ,due to the lack of food, medicine, and other
amenities.
Life in Gaza was never easy, but this war has turned it into an unbearable nightmare. With every
sound of bombing, my brother endures moments of sheer terror. He needs continuous care and
support, which has become nearly impossible amidst the destruction of infrastructure and the
lack of essential services. During the last aggression in 2021, as I was trying to comfort him
amidst a night of intense shelling, he clung to my hand tightly. His wide eyes filled with fear,
silently asking, "Will I be okay?" At that moment, I felt utterly helpless, just like everyone else in
Gaza.
I came to Egypt to pursue my Master's degree, hoping that education would open doors to a
better future for me and my family. However, the war has left me no choice but to pause my
studies temporarily. How can I focus on lectures and research while my loved ones live under
constant threat and struggle for survival?
In these dire circumstances, I am reaching out for your support. I am seeking financial
assistance to provide Mohammed with the essential medical and supportive care he needs. He deserves every opportunity to live a dignified and stable life. Your donations will cover the costs
of crossing the border, coordination fees, essential cash assistance to cover living expenses in Egypt for the first couple of months and admission to a supportive care facility.
Every dollar can make a significant difference in our lives, reuniting with my family and enabling me to continue my studies and achieve my dream of a better future.
Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
Medical report issued in 2022 states, “This patient suffers from cognitive and motor
disabilities since birth due to cerebral palsy. He requires ongoing medical and supportive
care.’’
