Evacuee Memorial Liverpool
Inspired by our Dad’s/Pop’s story of evacuation, we endeavour to raise the money for a permanent memorial statue to remember all the children evacuated, in particular from Liverpool.
We are delighted to announce that Andy Edwards, the amazing sculptor who created the Beatles statue at the Pier Head and ‘Truce’ at the Bombed Out Church has agreed to design and create this permanent Memorial to the Evacuees. The picture above is a preliminary sketch of how the statue will look.
Andy had the below to say:
"As a Liverpool based sculptor with a great love for its people, its heritage and future, it is my delight and sincere honour to have been selected to support the most worthy plan to raise a monument to the children evacuated during wartime. It is a subject most resonant with our current times as well as the story never to be forgotten of the generation before us. This monument will record their stories and experiences with authenticity, dignity and love. I look forward personally to hearing and sharing more detail of the peoples' stories and reporting them in sculpture with sensitivity and all the grace and truth I can muster. My duty as an artist is to serve our community and this subject will be a very proud undertaking of respect for our children and our predecessors" Andy 2020

We originally launched this on 15th September 2020 on what would have been the Birthday of our Dad’s brother who was tragically killed whilst evacuated.
Our Dad made a short video telling his story on the link below.

Now our Dad has passed away we are sharing this GoFundMe again in the hope we can raise the money for a small version of the statue and eventually the money for the full size
