Evan Nichols Nordic Combined 2023 Season
Donation protected
Evan Nichols is a Nordic Combined skier competing internationally to represent the United States and currently ranked 6th in the country. Evan has been competing in the Nordic Combined sport since he was in elementary school, with impressive results. In 2021 he was named to the U.S. National Team and placed 7th at the Olympic Trials. In winter of 2023, Evan took bronze at the World University Winter Games in an individual event and won the first gold for the United States in a two-man team event. Next, Evan competed at the Junior World Championships and led a four-man team to a fourth place finish (the best in over 10 years for the U.S.), posting the fastest cross-country time of the day among all competitors.
However, behind the scenes during these successful finishes, Evan was working through injury and sickness while continuing to train and compete. Following the Junior World Championships, he missed a large portion of last winter's international competitions. As a result, he was not re-named to the US National team. Without the support of the team, he is now responsible for all travel, equipment, training fees, and housing for the upcoming winter competitions. This summer, he worked and trained in Lake Placid while living in his car, earning enough money for all of his summer expenses, as well as the cost of living and training in Lillehammer, Norway for six weeks this fall.
Evan will be returning to the U.S. in October to compete in the U.S. National Championships at Lake Placid, October 10-11, 2023. Following that competition, he will need to raise or earn additional funds to send him back to Europe to compete, with the goal of being re-named to the U.S. National team next winter.
Will you help Evan continue to compete in the sport that he loves and has passionately trained for most of his life? THANK YOU! He will post regular updates about his season here on this gofundme page.
Go Evan!
