Prayers for Evan Wilson
Donation protected
We all love the Wilson family and want to help with their current and future medical expenses for Evan. Keep praying for them!
Evan is a sophomore at Bethel Christian Academy in Dothan, AL. He has been diagnosed with Ependymoma. He has had 2 brain tumor removal surgeries and will be undergoing 6.5 weeks of proton radiation therapy at UAB. Please give as you can as they will be having a lot of expenses while in Birmingham. Thank you!
Latest update from Beth:
Update of Evan: 2/8/2023
Thank you all for your prayers leading up to today. Once again God has been so faithful to our family.
Psalm 16:5-9:
5 Lord, you are my portion
and my cup of blessing;
you hold my future.
The boundary lines have fallen for me
in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
I will bless the Lord who counsels me—
even at night when my thoughts trouble me.
I always let the Lord guide me.
Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad
and my whole being rejoices;
my body also rests securely
We have been on Zoom meetings with Evan’s team of doctors today learning Evan’s treatment plan.
Evan will begin Proton radiation therapy the last week of February ( around Feb 28) It will be 6 1/2 weeks long, for 33 treatments. This will be Monday through Friday with us becoming home on the weekends
We know the name of the tumor: Ependymoma.
Treatment for this brain tumor is total removal, which we have done.✅
Next would be radiation. This tumor is sensitive to radiation treatment. He will get this at Proton Therapy at UAB, this is a new state of the art treatment that we are blessed to have close to us.
In many cases this type of tumor does not need chemotherapy treatment. We are still waiting on molecular information to determine this for his case.
Overall we are pleased with the treatment plan and Evan is ready to get it done.
Thank you for your prayers.
Specific prayers:
1. Clear results of NO cancer cells for his upcoming lumbar puncture.
2. A place to stay for us while receiving radiation.
3. No side affects for Evan from the upcoming radiation.
1 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.
Our family has spoke of this verse often since getting the news of Evan having a mass in his head. Yesterday 1/25/2023 we did not get the news we had hoped for regarding his pathology report. The report showed his mass was malignant (cancer). Of course, our hearts are broken over this news. We don’t know the exact name of the tumor as of yet. Our wonderful team at Children’s Hospital have sent his tumor specimens off for a specialist in brain tumors to look at, so we can have the most effective treatment plan for Evan. Evan will have to undergo another surgery on 2/2/2023 for removal of another spot in his parietal lobe. Matthew and I were aware that this area was not able to be reached in the last surgery, so this is NOT a new spot.
My flesh is weak and I am broken. To say I have not let fear enter my heart would not be the truth. I have confessed this to the Lord and He
has sustained me. When I look at the verse above I know that fear is not from God, but Satan trying to steal the peace only God can offer. I see that in the verse that Satan gives fear, but God gives three gifts to replace the fear “power, love and sound judgement “ My momma heart has groaned and unable to speak only the name Jesus in my prayers. BUT I am so thankful that in Romans 8:26-27 the Bible tells us “In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” I am Thankful for the Holy Spirit interceding for us.
However, Today is a new day, the sun is shining and the Lord’s mercies are new every morning! Evan is doing well and fully understands the plans before us. He is a fighter and we have God All Mighty on our side, so what can stand against us.
Please continue to stand in the gap for us with your prayers, we love you all.
