Dear Supporter,
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read through my résumé. My name is Evan Bowser and I live in Dearborn, Michigan. I have lived in Dearborn my entire life and spent the majority of my summers at Dearborn Country Club honing my skills attempting to get better everyday knowing my ultimate dream is to play golf professionally, making it a career. After attending Dearborn High School from 2008-2012, I chose to continue my education at Oakland University where I majored in Finance with a minor in Accounting while continuing my golf career at the Division 1 level. I plan to continue to live in Michigan during the summer months and travel down to Scottsdale, Arizona during the winter months allowing me continual practice time throughout the entire year.
I understand this goal will be an incredible challenge with the great amount of talented young players who seek the same goal as I. However, I believe the mental game, I acquired through life, sets me ahead of the competition. My mother, Karen, was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) during 2008. Unfortunately she lost her battle from this terrible disease in June of 2011. I did not first understand how much it would affect my life. As the days passed by, the debilitating disease would slowly limit ranges of motion rendering the most simple, everyday tasks a challenge. However, the difficulties presented helped me become the person I am today. As one of her main caretakers the disease was challenging to overcome but taught me about the struggles of everyday life allowing me to obtain perspective on other challenges I have faced and will face.
I plan to turn professional in December and begin competing in pro events shortly thereafter. Experiences acquired through tournaments played in college and amateur ranks will be conducive to my success in the early stages of professional events.
I have reached out to you because my goal of becoming a professional golfer is very expensive and I am in need of assistance. Expenses will be high in my first few months with tournament entry fees, travel expenses, places to practice, lodging, etc. I know how important it is to have a great relationship with my sponsors, as I cannot achieve my goals without their assistance. I plan to give periodic updates to my sponsors about my tournament results.
