On December 26, 2022, Thomas Evans was struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle while driving on Suitland Parkway. The impact was so intense, the vehicle which struck Thomas ended up back on the other side of the median. As a result of the accident, his life has been altered forever. Thomas is a master HVAC Mechanic with over 30 plus years in his profession. He is known for being an excellent provider for his wife of 27 years and his 5 children. He is beloved by his family, friends, and co-workers. During the accident, he sustained life-altering injuries, including a broken fibula, tibia, and two broken ankles. He underwent his first surgery on December 27th and his second on January 6, 2023. He is currently unable to walk and is confined to his bed. In the weeks to come, with the help of occupational therapy and physical therapy, he will learn to maneuver from his bed to a wheelchair with the long-term goal of being completely independent. Currently, he is in need of a home health aide to help with daily tasks which he is unable to do for himself. Needless to say, Thomas will need long-term assistance to cope with his aggressive injuries. As the primary financial provider for his family, this accident has taken an immense toll on our entire family. Many of you have asked what you can do and how you can help? My first response has been to pray. My second request is to give whatever you desire. As we focus on Thomas' recovery, we have come to understand that even though Thomas was not responsible for this accident, obtaining accountability from whomever is responsible for causing his injuries will be another hurdle we will face together as a family in the months ahead. As we pick up the pieces and begin our new normal, we would be eternally grateful for all donations to provide for his care, recovery, and immediate needs. We are Evans Strong!
