Hello and thank you for taking the time to read our story,
My father and I started Evanston Grill nearly 20 years ago, and we have been proud to serve Evanston ever since. To us, Evanston is not just the place that we reside, but is also a community that has supported us and allowed us to make an honest living.
On March 15th, when Governor Pritzker gave the shelter-in-place order, our world turned upside down. Our restaurant has survived through major recessions, like the housing market crash, the dot com crisis, and 9/11, but nothing could have prepared us for this pandemic. We are a small, family owned restaurant with only my father and I as employees. If either my father or I were to be infected, then we would be forced to close our business and may never open again. More importantly, my dad is in an age group that is at high risk of serious illness and death if he contracts the virus. Despite these serious risks, we must come into work every day to pay our bills and put food on the table
To make matters worse, an uninsured driver recently got into an accident with my dad which has put a heavy financial burden on our already struggling business. Our insurance may not help us at all, and we may be forced to pay for the entire amount to fix the damages!
My family immigrated from Korea to the United States to chase after the American dream, and we deeply thank the Evanston community for letting us serve you for over two decades. We understand that this is a difficult and trying time for everyone, so we do not take this request for donations lightly. We are not asking out of sympathy or pity, but because we need your help to save our restaurant! Truly, any small amount helps, and please visit and order from our website at evanstongrill.com
