Evelyn Marie

Evelyn is a 20-month-old beautiful little girl who loves her doll babies, her books, and especially her brother, Liam. She is also one of the more than 15,000 children diagnosed in the US with pediatric cancer in 2022.

My granddaughter was diagnosed at 13 months with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), a fast-growing cancer. No symptoms, no clues that she was sick. She went to her one year pediatrition appointment and had routine lab work. The results were undeniable. A high enough white blood cell count to be considered high risk. Within a few days and after many more tests, Evelyn’s new medical team developed a treatment plan.

Evelyn is undergoing treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital and we are so thankful for the care they have given her. Her treatment is a long road, approximately 3 years, and she has been so brave throughout each treatment. We are optimistic their courageous daughter can beat the odds and make a full recovery. As her oncologist told Bryan and Jenny, their goal is “she will give you hell when she’s a teenager and will take care of you in your old age!” That sounds perfect to us!

Things have been extremely tough since Evelyn was diagnosed, but she has been so brave throughout all this.  In just seven months, the medical bills have already surpassed $15,000, and the daily or weekly trips to the children’s hospital and the time off work are costing $100s/week.
