Evelyne Drake Memorial Fund
Donation protected
My name is Michael Drake and I'm raising money to give a proper memorial service and burial service for my beloved wife of 36 years. We have one son, David, who is 14.
Three weeks ago my wife, who had been diagnosed last October with CMML leukemia (blood cancer), complained of shortness of breathe and of feeling weak, so my son and I brought her to the hospital in Kalamazoo MI. We are up here for the summer to sell our sunglass products for our sunglass business.
At the hospital we were told that her leukemia had advanced and that she had 5-6 months to live with cancer treatments. They said without the treatments she would live about one month. They also pointed out that the treatments would gradually become more painful. At this point, Evelyne chose to decline treatment and to enter hospice comfort care. She is currently in the hospice care.
Having not prepared well for this to happen, my family and I are attempting to raise $6000 to cover the costs of a memorial service and burial service for my wife, for the trip back to Tampa, Florida, where we have lived for 28 years and to give back to the Hospitality House of Southwest Michigan as well as Kairos Dwelling Home, the hospice where Evelyne is now.
My wife and I have been in the mission field for 40+ years and have pastored in Rhode Island, South Dakota and Florida for over 15 years. She also has been a womens leader and did humanitarian work in her home country of Haiti. Your gifts will be eternally appreciated. God bless you.
