Event Professionals Relief Fund

My name is Clara Hough, Owner of House of Hough in Houston, Texas and NACE Houston Past President (National Association for Catering and Events). As we all know the Texas coast has been hit by Hurricane Harvey causing catastrophic and unprecedented floads in my hometown of Houston and surrounding areas. As I sit here and thank God that my family and I are ok there are many who have not been as furtunate.
As a leader in the Weddings and Events Industry I feel as though it is my duty to help my community. The intent in opening this GoFundMe account is to distribute the funds amongst wedding and industry professionals whose homes of businesses have been affected by this natural disaster.
In order to be considered for funds, I have asked potential the applicants of the fund to provide proof of the following:
* Show proof of working on the weddings and events field
* Show proof of residing in the greater Houston area or surrounding aread affected by Hurricane Harvey.
* Show proof of damage to personal home or business by Hurricane Harvey
* Email me the above information with a summary about the situation and how the funds will help this particular person/family
I originally started with a goal of $5,000 and have increased it three times since then. I am now hoping we can surpass our latest goal of $15,000.
My plan was to reach this goal by September 4th, 2017 (which we did) and to be able to release the funds to those in need by September 11th, 2017. As of yesterday (9/11/2017) the funds had not yet been transferred to my account by Go Fund Me. My goal is to release the funds as soon as the money is transferred to my bank account.
I have received several applications from industry people nominating colleagues to be recipients of this fund. I have reached out to Jill Vidal (Owner of EB Event Rentals & NACE Houston President), and Renee Pool (Director of Sale at the Magnolia Ballroom & NACE Director of Marketing) to assist me in defining who will be receiving the funds.
We have revised all the applications and already selected the 7 applicants who will be receiving the money collected thus far from this account. It is my intend for these 7 applicants to receive the money as soon as the funds become available and I intent to do the release of the funds via check or bank transfer.
It has been my goal to be transparent throughout this process and I will continue to release information about the management of this fund moving forward.
Forever grateful,
Clara Hough, CPCE
