Everest Base Camp trek for QLD Police Legacy 2020

Outback Queensland Cops trade 40 degree heat for -15 degrees!!

Sergeant Matt Hows from Barcaldine Police Station with his wife Kristy and S/Con Victoria Frahm from Longreach Station are taking a break from the 40 degree heat of Outback Queensland to experience the -15 degree temperatures of The Himalayas in Nepal as they participate in an arduous trek up to the Everest Base Camp.

Queensland Police Legacy in collaboration with Earthtrails Expeditions have organised this journey of self-discovery on the route dubbed as “The Steps To Heaven” with every bend in the trail providing beautiful forests, Sherpa villages and glacial moraines.  This trek runs for 18 days from the 15th of March to the 1st of April covering about 130km and reaching an altitude of 5,320m.

Matt, Kristy and Victoria are raising money to support Queensland Police Legacy who assist with the eligible dependent families of deceased Queensland Police Officer, QPS officers whose spouse/partner has died and QPS families with a parent suffering from an incurable/terminal illness.  They currently support 42 families and assist with the education of 65 dependent legatee children.

They’d love your support to help raise worthwhile funds for this incredible foundation with all donations being tax deductible and going straight to Queensland Police Legacy.
