Everesting for Not One More Vet
Tax deductible
With over 30 years of combined experience in the veterinary field, we are all too familiar with the daily challenges that veterinarians and veterinary staff encounter resulting in an ever-increasing workforce shortage as our friends and colleagues leave the profession due to burnout, financial stress, or sadly, suicide. Studies have shown that veterinarians and veterinary technicians are more than twice as likely to die by suicide than the general population or other healthcare professionals and that 1 in 6 veterinarians have considered suicide. We want to help our friends and colleagues so we can all continue to help our animal patients.
In July 2023, we will take on the challenge of hiking 29,029 vertical feet, the equivalent of Everest, in a 36-hour event, “29029 Everesting”. We completed this hike last year for our own personal goals. This year, our goal is to raise awareness about veterinary mental health challenges and financial support for our friends and colleagues who need it by donating all contributions to the non-profit organization, Not One More Vet (NOMV). “NOMV helps veterinary professionals through peer-to-peer support, financial support grants, education presentations, and by collaborating with partner agencies to extend services to the veterinary community.” To learn more about NOMV please, review their information at nomv.org
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause. Please help us spread the word by sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family.
Finally, if you are having thoughts of suicide, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988. No matter what you are going through, your life has incredible value. You matter! You are not alone!
