Everett Durham Jr. Memorial Garden Fund
Donation protected
Everett Durham, Jr. lived a long and full life, passing away April 25, 2021, at the age of 90. He was a longtime resident of the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland, OH, having purchased his home there in 1975. He not only was a resident, but he established a legendary business ("Sister Raffie's Seafood") with his wife, Raffie Durham. Located at the intersection of Lakeview and Superior, Sister Raffie's was a neighborhood gem. Durham was a well-respected member of the community, and in his 37 years of operation, he employed many residents from the neighborhood. After retiring, he delved deep into his love of gardening. In addition to planting fruits, herbs, and vegetables, he maintained a meticulous yard and a glorious flowerbed. Every spring he planted impatiens and geraniums. His yard was much admired.
To honor his legacy, we are working to establish a garden on the former lot where Sister Raffie's was housed. Please donate to help us reach our goal. In addition to the flowers and plants, which will help to beautify the neighborhood, we would like to install a plaque in his honor and that of his daughter, Marilyn, whose life was ended much too soon during a robbery, as well as a Welcome sign, welcoming people to Glenville. Additionally, the fund will allow for the continued maintenance of the garden.
Thanks in advance to all for all that you give.
