Everett Strong ALL Day Long

On February 24th 2022 our world came crashing down when my sweet “Glamson” Everett was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-Cell ALL). We weren't expecting to get this devastating news. Everett “Ev” was a healthy 5 ½ year old boy, when a few days prior was seen via a TeleHealth visit with his Kaiser pediatrician when his momma noticed a “rash” on his sides and shoulders. The pediatrician immediately scheduled an in person visit on February 24th, at which time an exam and blood work were completed, then rushed by ambulance to Children’s Hospital Orange County in Orange in order to confirm the diagnosis before informing his parents. In hindsight, there was unusual bruising on his arms, very pale skin, fatigue and body aches. I'm forever grateful for Dr. VIDETH ERICA WHITT being proactive in calling an ambulance after being concerned when Ev fainted from his weakness. Everett was admitted to the PICU at CHOC where the Pediatric Oncology team began planning his treatment roadmap. First performing Apheresis treatment to rid his spine of the increased amount of white blood cells in preparation for his initial chemotherapy treatment. Next, a blood transfusion to help his red blood cells and platelet count. He has had several blood transfusions and platelets administered to try and get him stable. If he keeps moving in the right direction he will begin first chemotherapy. All the staff has been incredible in helping understand the long journey my little warrior is about to embark on. We understand this type of cancer has a 90% survival rate but the treatment plan my Everett will have to endure is 2 ½ to 3 years long. We would like to ask for your help in hopes of lessening one burden as we try to navigate all that comes with this diagnosis.
