Everly’s Bilateral Hip Dysplasia Surgery Fund

Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family, I’m Jammie Elkins (Everly’s Aunt). Many of you have asked how you can donate or help support Evy in her time of need. In response I have created this gofundme on her and her families behalf. If you are unable to help lift their financial burden, prayers, thoughts are more than appreciated. Everly’s, “You need to keep praying for me and my surgeries okay Aunt Jammie?” I of course promised and believe strongly in the power of prayer! Yours are fully appreciated!

Here’s her story…

As an infant, Everly Goulding significantly missed milestones such as sitting up, crawling, standing up, and walking. Now at the age of four and a half, Everly has a unique walk and struggles to keep up with other kids her age. While these concerns were mentioned to her pediatrician at each wellness check, the primary physician eased their worries by saying she was fine.

After getting a second opinion and x-rays in June, the family learned that Everly has severe bilateral hip dysplasia, which means her femurs are completely out of socket. This issue will require multiple major surgeries to fix. She will need both a pelvic and femoral osteotomy on her right hip. Five weeks following the first surgery, they will repeat the procedure on her left hip. She will be in a spica cast (body cast) for a total of 16 weeks if everything goes as planned. She will need to go under anesthesia for cast changes, and for the cast removal. After her cast comes off, Everly will need physical therapy, will need to relearn how to walk, and will have another smaller surgery to remove the hardware.

This is a frustrating situation, because if it had been caught early, surgery could potentially have been avoided. Doctors who have been introduced to this situation are shocked that it was missed, especially because she was born with unstable hips. It is uncommon for this condition to be caught at such a late age. Without surgery, Everly would most likely need full hip replacements in her teenage years.

As you can imagine, all these medical expenses are going to add up, even with medical insurance. Not only the hospital bills, but hotel fees during her procedures, equipment, etc.

Everything helps! Like I said before even if you are unable to donate, prayers and thoughts mean the world to little Evy and her family! All my love! Jammie
