Every Mile for Education

In November 2022, I suffered my third stroke. It all started back in 2019 with headaches that led to a diagnosis of hypertension. Despite our best efforts, my health took a turn for the worse during the pandemic. In August 2021, I found myself in the ICU with chest pain caused by my Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) condition. After undergoing a heart surgery at Dallas Presby, I resolved to take control of my health by adopting a healthier lifestyle.
But fate had other plans. Last November, I was back in the ICU with another stroke, and that's when I found out that my kidneys had deteriorated due to hypertension and CHF. As I lay in my hospital bed, I realized that I needed to make a change. I gave myself 90 days to recover and decided that I wanted to give back to the world that had given me so much.
Despite my health challenges, I knew that I wanted to do something big. That's when I decided to build a STEAM school in Togo-West Africa. I had saved enough money to buy 1.4 acres of land in Togo-West Africa, which I had originally planned to use for personal/family purposes. But now, I wanted to donate it and use it to build a school that would integrate subjects and connect disciplines in a way that traditional education does not.
STEAM education emphasizes the application of knowledge and illustrates how it fits into the real world. I have seen firsthand how this form of education can work wonders, having served as the IT director for PTAA for several years. I believe that a STEAM school in Africa could make a significant impact.
Despite my health conditions, I am determined to make this dream a reality. As of April, my blood work looked fine, and I was cleared to travel again. So, I decided to take on a crazy challenge: to ride my motorcycle and raise money to build the STEAM school.
I hope you will follow my journey and help me make this school a reality. Every mile I ride will be for education, and every donation will make a difference.
