HELP! Disabled, ill, survivor MUST move!

IMPORTANT UPDATE

I am sick with uncontrolled hypertension that has gotten so high it’s landed me in the ER twice in the last three weeks. Doing anything makes my BP rise, so I can’t pack or do the tasks needed to moved out of the house I’ve lived in since 1974. There are belonging from 3 1/2 generations of women in that house. Losing those treasured items would mean losing a substantial portion of my family history. Since I physically can’t do anything, I’ve had to hire movers and packers. I need to raise $450-$550 right now. Please help me by donating to my GFM campaign or sending money via Zelle.

My Story

My name is Tamara Adrine-Davis.

I am a disabled sexual assault survivor. The perpetrator is a Cleveland Heights Police Department cop. The deed to my house is now in the hands of one of the rapist cop’s friends. I honestly could not make this up!  I tried desperately to save the house until, very literally, the last minute based on what appeared to be an error with the transfer of the title. For reasons far too long to discuss here, I was unsuccessful. Now, my two dogs, (who I’ve since learned qualify as service animals because of the way I’ve trained them to react to my frequent anxiety attacks), and I are, very literally, OUT ON THE STREET.

To make matters worse, the stress of being homeless and having to figure out where we’ll lay our heads each night has made my blood pressure uncontrollable. I have been REALLY sick since the day we were evicted. I’ve had blurred vision, headaches, loss of feeling in my extremities and exhaustion beyond that which is normal even for me. I have seen a doctor, but she prescribed medication containing a substance to which I’m allergic. I’ve tried and tried to get that prescription replaced with medication I can actually take. Going to an emergency room is deeply problematic because I’m afraid I’ll be admitted. I CANNOT leave my two dogs.

We’ve been living in a hotel since we were thrown out. Thanks to a booking app, the rate is good. However, this is not sustainable forever. There are no shelters that take dogs OR are safe for a very physically vulnerable woman with disabilities. I’ve been working with a housing specialist from the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, among other agencies, but was told that the quickest way to get to a place of safety would be to go through the normal rental process. The “emergency” housing system isn’t. The wait now is about six months.

The funds will be used for the following:

  • Temporary lodging
  • Gas
  • Deposits for more permanent housing
  • Vet bill (just had an unexpectedly large one)
  • Possibly furniture storage

I have no current friends in the area because my disabilities tend to isolate me and my family isn’t really in a position to help. I’ve just turned 60 years old; my girls (canine) are 14 years old (Airedale Terrier) and 12 years old (Chihuahua/Boston Terrier mix). Given my multiple disabilities, my uncontrolled blood pressure and the highly variable weather, sleeping in my minivan would be asking for tragedy.

I’m asking a lot, I know. But the shame I initially felt has gone out the window. My will to survive has replaced it. So, I am asking for your help. Please give what you can. WE NEED HELP‼️
