Evie's Cincinnati Trip
Donation protected
Evie is 4 years old. She was born Very early
at 23 weeks gestation. She weighed 1 pound 5 ounces and was 11 inches long. She
spent a long 9 months at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in their NICU.
Evie has been a Miracle since day one, and really has had little side effects
from being born so prematurely. When she was 6 months old she had a
Tracheostomy (which is a tube that inserted into her throat to allow her to breathe
on her own). Since 2009 she has had around 12 surgeries on her throat to remove
scar tissue. In April we realized that these surgeries are not being productive and she needs a bigger more dangerous
surgery. She needs a Tracheal Reconstruction Surgery. During this surgery they
will take cartilage from her ribs and completely repair her throat. It is a
very extensive procedure. After much research, and some differences in opinion,
we are traveling to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to see their #1 Pediatric
ENT Surgeon (Dr. Cotton) who is known all over the WORLD for doing the exact
surgery she needs. This surgery will hopefully allow us to get the Trach out,
and allow her to be a normal 4 year old! So that is where we need the help. We
will have to take around 12 trips out there. The first trip will be at least 2 weeks and the second trip will be around I month. All the other trips will be follow up appointments but we still have to come to Cincinnati for them. We need help covering all of
our expenses. Help us get this Trach out!!
