Cami Story - Hit & Run

On Saturday, July 3rd, our mom was struck by an SUV in an intersection after leaving the Skyview Lake firework show in Norfolk, NE. Unfortunately, the driver who ran her over fled the scene but my brother and his fiance were there as witnesses to help her and provide information on the vehicle responsible.

That evening she was transported from the Norfolk hospital to the ICU at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She’s responsive but has severe swelling and injuries including a broken clavicle bone, collapsed lung, 3 broken ribs, and can’t feel below her waist at this time.  She has undergone one surgery so far on her spine and we’re now waiting for the swelling to go down and praying for the best possible outcome. We're beyond grateful that she's here with us today but know that we have a long road ahead of us.

 

I’ll continue to post progress updates as we get them here. For those asking to send flowers, she's in the ICU at this time and its policy to not accept flowers. Once she is moved, I can post an update here.

 

Donations will be used to help pay for any medical bills, travel expenses for our family to be in Omaha with her over the coming months, rehab and whatever else her and my dad may need on the road to recovery.
