Ex Killick Bunting Stuart 'George' Heron

Hi I'm Stuart's older brother, his last surviving familiy member. Stuart served in the RN for over 10yrs; he was a bunting on both HMS JUNO and HMS Exeter and has a Gulf medal as a reminder of his service. 10yrs ago, Stuart collapsed at work and was rushed to hospital where he was diagnosed with a large brain tumour; a tumour that they said would kill him within weeks. He survived the operation to remove the tumour, but it left him with speech difficulties and other disabilities that kept him almost housebound. Stuart lives alone; he is a proud man and won't ask for help, even when he is in the worst of his pain. He survives on prescribed morphine-based medication.

Yesterday I paid him a visit, the first in a few weeks and I was shocked to find him living in the bedroom of his 2-bed bungalow. The reason for this is because he cannot afford to turn the heating on as he only receives a small amount of money from his benefits as a result of his disability, he gets a small amount from his RN Pension, and I think this is why he gets very little in the way of benefits.

To top it all, he informed me that his microwave stopped working last week and he could not afford a replacement. As a result, he had been living on 'cuppa soups' made from the kettle. I immediately went to the local store of course, to get him a new microwave and a new duvet for his bed.

Stuart faces the coming weeks in a similar fashion, and i have offered him to come to me for the duration, but, as I say, he is a stubborn and proud man; those who know him from the mob will know what he is like. He is adamant that he can survive the cold and winter, but I'm not so sure.

Guys, Girls, shipmates, if you can spare a sheckle, icky of spondooly for an old shipmate so he can at least heat his home this Christmas I know he will be grateful, not only for your kindness but your comradery & brotherhood.
