Help Restore Camp Sylvan

Help Needed For Camp Sylvan.

Most people involved with Scouting in Southwestern Ontario are well aware of Camp Sylvan, from the covered wagons to the cabooses, to exploring the magnificent trails and camping facilities.

Located in the Municipality of North Middlesex, it has served youth in Southwestern Ontario for over 57 years. It provides exceptional outdoor camping and environmental experiences.

Camp Sylvan has two concerns: the Covered Wagons which are in desperate need of replacement and repairs to the road system that are critical to continued accessibility to the camp.

The Covered Wagons are used by members of Scouts Canada and Girl Guides Canada and in the past have formed a key experience for students of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority Outdoor School.

Time, extreme weather conditions and  prolonged usage have taken a toll on the wagons. After assessing the level of repairs required, the Committee responsible for the camp has elected to replace the 11  wagons , as repairs are just not a  feasible option.

In addition, the roads throughout Camp Sylvan, located on the northern edge of the Carolinian Forest are mainly sand and constant use and erosion have caused these roads to need costly repairs.

We hope that you have great memories of your times at Camp Sylvan and that you might consider making a donation to help replace these Covered Wagons and rebuild the camp roads!

Thank You!
