Hurricane Dorian Recovery

Donation protected
On Sunday, September 1st, Hurricane Dorian made landfall in The Bahamas and upon reaching Grand Bahama, stopped forward movement for two days and unleashed an unprecedented amount of force onto the island.  The storm caused the level of the sea rise over 20 feet above normal, engulfing our family home in water and debris.  The force of this water filled the home up to the ceiling and washed away most of the interior  outside and into the rising flood water.

We are using a gofundme page to raise money to help us to, in time, repair our home.  We will soon be in need of wiring, sheetrock/plasterboard, insulation and doors to replace what the pressure of the water forced from the foundations.   Once the infrastructure of the island is restored, we can look to making a start on repairs.

My parents have lived on the island of Grand Bahama for 27 years and now that they are Bahamian, are deeply involved in the community, developing a swimming club which has provided hundreds of children opportunities to compete on the world stage.  Even though the island has been through this major natural disaster, the Bahamian people will come together to return their lives to what was once a thriving community where its citizens come together to achieve greatness.

Thank you to everyone for your consideration and generosity either with your time, money or compassion.  We will be forever grateful to everyone involved in helping the islands rebuild.
