Exhibition: Spiritual Crossing: Reach & Embrace

My name is Lucy H. West. I’m a Philadelphia-based visual artist originally from Tokyo, Japan. This is my fourth year living in Philly and being a part of the local community and art scene which has been nothing but fantastic. Last year, I independently brought together an art exhibition along with two other local artists where we were able to safely bring back in-person art-viewing back to our community during the pandemic (most art exhibits were virtual during this time). It ended up being a huge success! Now, I believe that it is time to have my first Solo Exhibition in Philly. I am seeking support for this exhibition and the community events that will come along with it.
The Exhibition is titled – “Spiritual Crossing: Reach & Embrace” ⭐︎
This exhibition is about healing, self-love, growth, meditation, emotions, and taking conscious action to connect with and know oneself – and connecting with others through doing so.
Alongside my collective, a collection of amazing BIPOC arts & cultural workers like Morgan Lloyd and Nile Overton, we are aiming to raise $5,000 to execute the exhibit installation and to provide exciting and accessible programming for all audiences. Philadelphia has provided us a platform to work as advocates for marginalized communities within the arts on a daily basis. This project is a love letter to the diverse communities of Philadelphia, who have supported me and my art collective over the years. We invite you to join us on our journey, from conception to the final events to expand our inclusive community.
The heart of our project is a solo show comprised of mixed media canvas paintings, works on paper, and installation art. The expressive body of work wavers between abstraction and representation conveying the connections between our physical and inner worlds.
Our goal is to foster a space where art can be contemplated; On special days, the space inspires programmatic events like mindfulness talks, tours hosted by the artist and collective, small yoga practices, and other thoughtful community affairs. The show will conclude with an artist talk and Q&A.
I am so excited about this. We’ve been working on putting this project together since the start of the year!
