Exonerated & Free.... Daniel Gwynn

Donation protected
Daniel Gwynn is an innocent man who was wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to death because the prosecution and police made up evidence that did not exist and hid critical evidence that demonstrated his innocence. Police also coerced a false statement. As a result of this extreme misconduct, Daniel spent almost 30 years in prison, 25 of which were served on Pennsylvania’s notorious death row, many in torturous solitary confinement. Daniel consistently maintained his innocence throughout this lifelong nightmare and fought for his freedom.
Thanks to the tireless investigation and advocacy of his attorneys from the Federal Community Defender Office, the Center for Death Penalty Litigation, and Wiseman & Schwartz, LLP, evidence of the police and prosecutorial misconduct was exposed. It demonstrated that Daniel was denied a fair trial and that he
was innocent. Daniel’s lawyers convinced the prosecutors of the unfairness of his prosecution and death sentence, and they jointly petitioned for his release and the dismissal of his case. On February 28, 2024, Daniel’s long nightmare came to an end when his case was dismissed and he was released from custody.
While Daniel is profoundly grateful for his liberty, he was released with literally no resources to begin his new life. Pennsylvania is one of the few states that offer no compensation for exonerees upon their release. Daniel is left to himself to arrange and finance housing, health care, transportation, job training, and all the
costs of daily living.
While he was incarcerated, Daniel took refuge in the creation of artwork that he managed to accomplish despite the tight restrictions that the prison imposed on art materials and space. Now that he is free, Daniel wishes to continue to paint, which has great therapeutic benefits for him.
This fundraiser has been established so you can donate directly to Daniel and help him get on his feet financially. He needs help securing and maintaining basic necessities, like housing and transportation, and he needs assistance to obtain the
materials and space to begin painting again. All funds go directly to Daniel.
Wiseman and Schwartz, Daniel’s attorneys, ask that you consider donating to Daniel and join them in welcoming Daniel home with your kind generosity.
