Expedita's story
As many of you know, last January our dear Expedita suffered a fall and broke her hip. She went through surgery and many days of rehabilitation to learn to walk again. She is still healing but has made good progress.
Unfortunately a couple weeks ago, her hip fractured again. At that time, the doctors also discovered a mass in her lung which they admittted was there last October but is now 50% bigger. Next they did a biopsy and the completely shocking and unexpected was found. Expedita has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer that has spread to her hip. She didn't know of any symptoms besides her hip fracturing so easily. According to the doctors, it may not be the same lung cancer as a smokers', but may be a "genetic mutation" which is treated a bit differently. We are still waiting for more information to see if ths is the case.
One of the most difficult things about this type of cancer is that it spreads and this past week we have learned the results of Expedita's brain scan and found that yes, cancer is sadly there too. Soon she will begin radiation. We are still finding out more answers and details as we go along.
If you know Expedita, you know she is a woman of faith and relying on the Lord at this time.
