Expenses for Mckayla & Ian Blount

Hey, I’m Tammy, Mckayla’s mom. I’m trying to raise funds due to an unforeseen, very unfortunate situation for my daughter and her family. Please read.
Thursday, she went in for a total hysterectomy due to endometriosis, pcos, adenomyosis, all of which she’s been fighting since she was about 14. She had two big cysts on her ovaries. One the size of a golf ball, the other a size of a tennis ball, so they took her ovaries during the surgery, scraped out any endometriosis etc. this was supposed to be routine laparoscopic surgery, she planned on being home same day.
During the initial surgery, the surgeon had unknowingly nicked a major artery in her pelvis when finishing the surgery. They closed her up, took her back to post op. Hours, to many hours went by before I heard anything from a doctor. They told me it was taking longer than expected for her to wake up. Little did I know she was back there, fighting for her life.
From her account, she doesn’t remember being lucid at any point. They said she initially gotten up, got dressed, then she passed out on them. She passed out multiple times, her gums & lips were white as a sheet, she was losing her airway, fading in and out unconscious for several hours while they worked on her. Her heart rate shot up, pressure bottomed out, they pushed several pressers & medications to try and wake her up. A lot of this is from her recollection but also in her post op notes. Mckayla was fighting her best to stay conscious, to stay alive. She remembers that she was singing & praying every second she could in her mind. She felt the presence of the Lord around her. She could hear everything being said around her, the good bad & ugly, especially of them worrying about her dying. She couldn’t respond, only react to pain. After a couple of hours, they determined she was bleeding internally and wanted to take her back into surgery immediately. They opened/cut her hip to hip for an exploratory laparotomy. It took them a while to clean the blood & blood clots out, find the source & stitched it up. They made sure she was bone dry before closing her up again.
I seen her at 9am, then didn’t see her until almost 11pm that night.
After that, there was a few more complications. On Saturday she had two more bleeds that were stable, not active, but pooling blood and making her levels drop to critically low. She ended up needing 7 blood transfusions total from it all. After today, 1/11/23, we seem to be on the right track to recovery with the right medicine to help her nausea, pain, and ptsd.
Needless to say, it was very traumatic for her, those around her. I thought I was losing my daughter, but I’m praising God for keeping her here with us & her family. She has a long road ahead of her for healing physically, emotionally, mentally.
I pray you prayerfully consider rallying around them & help ease the financially, if you feel lead, as Ian’s taken a lot more time off than planned, she’s not going to bounce back as they thought she would either to work. Her in-laws are flying out to help Ian with the kids and her recovery. Most importantly we’ll take all the prayers we can get! We appreciate all the support and people checking in on her so far. The backbone of prayer warriors have been key to her overall recovery.
Thank you so much.
